The given bar charts provide statistical information on the number of marriage and divorce per thousand in eight developed countries in 1981 and 1994. By looking at the column charts it can be said that the number of marriages decreased in almost all counties except for Denmark and the divorce rate increased in all countries except for the USA, Germany and Denmark.

As is seen in the given illustrations, the USA had the highest marriage and divorce rate among other countries. The USA experienced more than 12 per thousand marriages and just above 5/thousand divorce rate in 1981. Both of these two rates slipped by 1 percent after 15 years. The rate of marriage increased highest in Denmark.

It is interesting to notice that Italy by far had the least percentage of divorce rate. Germany was the only country where divorce rate remained unchanged. Divorce rates in Japan, France, Finland, Germany and Italy were comparatively less than that of the USA and UK.
