Model Answer:
There is no doubt that both politicians and scientists are exerting powerful influence on our world; while politicians tend to lead a country by establishing better laws and treaties and governing their country well in all fields, scientists tend to reshape the world by developing high technology.

Obviously, no country would proceed well without the influential of politicians who represent a country’s image and status on the international stage. They need to confer together to make feasible treaties which decide the commerce between two different countries. Only when the top heads come to an agreement will there be possibility for expanding international market, which constitutes an indispensable part of a country’s economy in today’s open world. Thus, there is no denial that the world’s prosperity is contingent on how well politicians from different countries cooperate.

On the other hand, scientists have been a forceful team to drive the world to progress and provide technical support for politicians to defend a country, which is one of the most important symbols to represent national strength. High technologies developed by scientists have been applied in military, exploring outer space etc, which cannot be achieved only by the power of politicians. However, high technology could be a disaster if there is no effective and potent laws legislated by politicians. That’s why heads of six states need to come together to defuse the Korean nuclear crisis.

In conclusion, politicians and scientists are changing our world in different ways and neither is less influential. Without perfect laws and regulations, high technology may be used in a wrong way leading to a catastrophe; and politicians may not be so powerful if they lacked the support of scientists.

Thanks for the model answer Phoenix! I am not a frequent writer, but I've been practising my writing since I'm preparing for the IELTS- General Training. I thought of sharing my own version of a model answer since I found this topic interesting.

It is undeniable that both politicians and scientists have essential influences towards the betterment of humankind. However, some believe that politicians are more influential towards the society than scientists, whereas the question arises whether they are less imperative to the world or vice-versa? In my perspective, I believe that both parties have a significant contribution to the society in governing and developing a nation, leading us from caves to skyscrapers.

To begin with, politicians have always played a substantial role in representing a country’s role and status in the international stage, as well as in internal affairs within the country that they represent. A politician is needed to make feasible treaties among the international community. For an instance, the country I live in has undergone an economic crisis and a new government was elected recently by the citizens to overcome the issue. Politicians, along with the guidance of diplomats are trying their level best to commerce between nations, inviting them to invest in our country in order to stable the economy by generating employment opportunities to the youth and expanding our dominance in international markets. Therefore, there is no denial that politicians work towards the prosperity of a nation while co-operating with other countries.

On the other hand, scientists play a pivotal role in making ordinary people’s life convenient and comfortable. Scientists are the backbone of longevity, granted to mankind by discovering advanced diagnostic methods and medical treatments. In particular, scientists tend to develop ways to explore outer space, deep oceans and unknown things using technology. For an example, the invention of the computer has a positive impact on people’s day to day life while it directly affects the economy and the stability of a country.

Nonetheless, some innovations, such as nuclear weapons and atomic bombs invented by scientists have caused conflicts among nations such as World Wars. So it is evident that, dealing with high technology needs effective and compelling laws established by governments.

Given the backdrop, politicians and scientists are changing our world in countless ways, for the better or the worse so neither are impartial when their influence towards the country is concerned. Finally, I believe that proper laws and regulations have to be in place for inventions done by scientists which will prevent catastrophes whereas politicians should be supported by scientists for the betterment of mankind.
