IELTS Letter Writing / GT Writing Task 1:
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
Your parents will be celebrating their 40th anniversary next month. You are planning a big celebration, but you are not sure how to make the occasion really memorable.
Write to a friend, who is a professional event planner. In your letter:
- explain why the occasion is special
- ask for his/her assistance
- set up a time to meet at your friend's convenience to discuss your plans
Write at least 150 words.
You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Dear Amelia,
Hope you are doing fine. It was so delightful to hear that you had a memorable tour in Europe, and I'm sure that would revive you to the fullest. I'm writing to seek your advice regarding my plan to celebrate my parents 40th marriage anniversary. I'm sure you can help me make this a grand celebration.
Spending 40 years together is a great reason to celebrate and my parents have shown a true testament of what a marriage really is and I am absolutely blessed to be a part of this remarkable family. 4 decades with blessing, love, affection, true commitment and care is absolutely remarkable. I only wish I would be that fortunate!
As I want to make this event unforgettable, I need your help. The 40th anniversary, also known as the ruby anniversary, should be a joyous occasion filled with family and friends who’ve been a part of your lives over the years. I know how famous you are for making such an occasion a success and despite some superficial ideas, I am not sure how to make arrangements for such a monumental occasion which is on 24th March.
I hope you can meet me someday to discuss and finalise the planning. I can come over to your office to have the conversation at your convenience. Do inform me when you can meet.

Hope you are doing well with your life and career. I am also doing fine except that I am really struggling to put together a plan to celebrate my parent's 40th wedding anniversary in a very special manner.
For a minute, I thought that I was going to take them to the same place where they spent their first vacation. Then, I also thought I should buy them the same kind of dresses which they wore on their wedding day. But, I finally thought that as a professional event planner, you are the best person to assist me in planning this unique event.
Not to mention, this wedding anniversary is quite special for all of us as it marks 40 years of shared love. It is unique to my parents also since, after all these years, they both have finally fulfilled their dream of buying a beautiful house in the lovely countryside where they want to spend the rest of their lives. Besides, this wedding anniversary would also allow them to show their love and appreciation for each other.
So, given how special this occasion is, please inform me about a date and time when you can meet me and give me some professional advice on how to make the event memorable and exceptional.
