Gross Domestic Product in four countries - billions US dollar

Model Answer 1:
The line graph compares the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of four developing countries, namely, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Malaysia, over six years from 2010 to 2015. The GDP, which is an economic indicator for a country, has been measured in billions of US dollars in the chart.

Overall, Malaysia consistently led in GDP throughout the period, while Nepal had the lowest GDP and showed very little change. Both Pakistan and Bangladesh experienced steady economic growth, with Bangladesh’s GDP rising at a slightly faster pace than Pakistan’s.

In 2010, Malaysia’s GDP was already the highest among the four given countries at roughly $260 billion, and it continued to expand until it peaked at about $340 billion in 2014 before dipping to $300 billion in 2015. Pakistan began the period at around $180 billion and saw a gradual increase each year, reaching approximately $275 billion by 2015. Bangladesh’s GDP also grew consistently, rising from about $110 billion in 2010 to nearly $200 billion in 2015.

By contrast, Nepal’s GDP remained relatively flat across the six years, starting at roughly $10 billion in 2010 and ending at around $15 billion in 2015, with only marginal increases.

Sample Answer 2:
The line graph compares the GDP of four developing countries in Asia, and shows how this economic indicator changed between 2010 and 2015. As can be seen, Malaysia had a better GDP than the other three countries listed in the diagram, and Nepal’s GDP remained almost constant throughout the time.

As is outlined in the graph, GDP in Malaysia was approximately 265 billion US dollars in 2010, which was the highest among the four developing countries. Pakistan’s GDP at that moment was roughly 175 billion, which was around 65 billion higher than that of Bangladesh. Nepal, with its meagre 10 billion Gross Domestic Product, stood at the bottom of the list.

Looking further, Malaysian GDP gradually increased till 2014 and then witnessed a decline. GDP in this country was 300 billion dollars in 2015, which was the highest. GDP in Pakistan progressed moderately, and this progress accelerated between 2014 and 2015, at which point it nearly touched Malaysia’s GDP.  Bangladesh’s GDP gradually improved and almost doubled in just 5 years to finally reach 200 billion USD in 2015. Interestingly, Nepal is the only country whose GDP remained static at only 10 billion dollars throughout the period.
