Percentages of students who are proficient in a foreign language

Model Answer 1:
The bar chart compares the percentages of male and female students who are proficient in a foreign language across six countries: China, Romania, Thailand, India, Russia, and Vietnam.

As a general trend, in every country except Thailand, a higher proportion of female students is competent in a second language than their male counterparts. India and Romania stand out with the highest proficiency rates for both genders, while China shows the lowest ratio of such learners.

In India, about 68% of females are fluent in a foreign language, compared with roughly 56% of male students. Romania follows closely, with approximately 65% of females, but only around 40% of males having skills in a second language. Vietnam also exhibits a significant gender gap: about 66% of women can speak another language, while men trail at 37%.

In contrast, Thailand deviates from the general pattern, and around 30% of male students are language-proficient compared with about 28% of females. Meanwhile, both Russia and China register comparatively low figures, with second language proficiency rates for males and females hovering roughly between 30–40%, with China having the smallest share of such students.

Sample Answer 2:
The bar chart presents the ratio of male and female pupils in six countries who have a good command of a foreign language. It is obvious that a higher percentage of female learners are proficient in a second language than that of male pupils, and the proportion of such fluent students is higher in India and Romania.

As the diagram outlines, the proportion of students skilled in a foreign language was the highest in India, approximately 68% female students and 56% male students. Romania has approximately 65% female pupils and just over 40% male students who are experts in a second language. Interestingly, the rate of students with skill in a foreign language is higher among females than that of males in all countries except for Thailand, where the male students are 30% compared to 28% females. Vietnam has a higher ratio of second-language-knowing students than that of China and Russia. The lowest percentages of such pupils reside in China, where only around 20-30% disciples know a second language, of which 30% are male and just 18% are female.

  1. In line one, it was written good commands, which is wrong. The correct substitution for being proficient is having good command.

  2. The given bar chart displays the proportion of male and female students from 6 different countries (China, Romania, Thailand, India, Russia and Vietnam) who are fluent in another language.

Overall, it is observed that female students have a higher figure when it comes to knowing a second language than their male counterparts. More specific information will be summarized below.

To begin with, one of the most noticeable features of the diagram is that Thailand is the only country that has a percentage of male students at about just above 30%, higher than that of female students (27%) who know a second language. Regarding China, this country has the lowest proportion of second-language-knowing students, as the figure for male students is 30% and for female pupils roughly half of this number.

Interestingly, approximately 35% of Vietnamese and Russian male students know a foreign language. And finally, male and female students from India and Romania have significantly higher ratios than the other 4 countries mentioned in the diagram, ranging from 40 to approximately 68 per cent. Around 68% of female students in India can speak a foreign language and this figure in Romania was around 65%.
