There are two tasks in the IELTS General Training Writing test: Task 1 and Task 2.

In Task 1, candidates are required to respond to a given problem with a letter/ email. It could be for requesting information, inviting a friend, complaining about something, explaining a situation, and so on. Your letter or email should have at least 150 words. In Task 2, candidates are given an essay topic. It could be an opinion, discussion, advantages & disadvantages, problem-solution, or a double-question essay. For the essay, you are required to write at least 250 words.
