The Medicine
• This medicine must be taken as directed.
• Before using, shake the bottle.
• Dose: 50ml to be taken twice daily after the midday and evening meals.
Instructions:
• Do not take this medicine on an empty stomach or immediately before lying down.
• If any of the following occur, discontinue taking the medicine and contact your doctor: dizziness, vomiting, blurred vision.
• This medicine is not available without a prescription and is not suitable for children under 5 years.
• Once you have begun to take this medicine you must continue to take it until the bottle is empty, unless advised otherwise by your doctor.
• Only one course of this medicine should be taken in a period of six months.
• Expiry date: 16 February 2004.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: PRODUCT RETURN
Fancy Foods wishes to inform the public that pieces of metal have been found in some jars of Fancy Foods Chicken Curry (Spicy). The batches of the Jars involved have numbers from J6617 to J6624. The batch number is printed on the bottom of each jar.
If you have any jars with these batch numbers, please return them (preferably unopened) to the supermarket where you purchased them. You can also return them to the factory (Fancy Foods Retailers, Blacktown). Fancy Foods will pay $10 for each jar returned unopened and $5 for each jar already opened.
No payment will be made for empty jars, which do not need to be returned. However, the company’s Retailing Manager will be interested to hear from people who have consumed chicken curry from any of the above batch numbers. In particular, it will be helpful if they can give information about the place of purchase of the product.
Jars of Fancy Foods Chicken Curry (Coconut) and Fancy Foods Chicken Curry (Mango) have not been affected and do not need to be returned.
REWARD
Fancy Foods will pay a reward of $10,000 to $50,000 for information which leads to the conviction of any person found guilty of placing metal pieces in its products. If you have such information, please contact the Customer Relations Manager, Fancy Foods Retailers, Blacktown.

It’s quite easy, I got it all correct.
What about this – “You SHOULD stop taking the medicine when you feel better”? I think this statement is “NG” because it will depend on the doctor’s advise. Maybe the doctor says ‘continue after you feel better and maybe says stop it after you feel better.” Am I right?
Continue- stop words both are opposite to each other and that’s why the answer is ‘NO’.
IELTS use synonyms for many words (blurred vision- eye side affected, same meaning). That’s why the answer is ‘yes’.
In the previous test, you said we should not, we should answer strictly to what is given in the passage. Question 2 answer should be ‘not given’. Why Yes?

I couldn’t agree more. I answered the same, and I am not satisfied with the given answer.
For question 5, what if I write ‘jar bottom’ or ‘each jar bottom’. Would it be marked as a correct answer?
This is easier compared to the others.
I don’t think the real IELTS reading examination would be so easy.
We should always mention the unit. Either in full words or universally accepted signs.

I have a doubt regarding answers for questions 6 & 9. The instructions clearly say you just need to mention a number but your answers show the dollar sign followed by a number. Don’t we have to just mention the number?
Guys, for Q#7, the answer is written in small letters, but the passage shows capital letters. Does it affect marking?
Dear Vishnu, the 3rd one is very easy. You must continue to take it until the bottle is empty unless advised otherwise by your doctor. It is mentioned that do not leave medicine when you feel better unless advised otherwise by your doctor.
Question 3: You must stop taking the medicine when you feel better. Explanation:a) It would have been ‘NG’ only if there was no instruction given when to stop taking the medicine. But the instruction is given in the reading passage when to stop: “Stop when the bottle is empty.” b) Stop when the doctor instructs you to do so. Hence, “Not Given” is not the right answer here. So, someone should not stop taking the medicine whenever s/he feels better and that’s why it would be ‘No’.” Hope that clarifies the doubt you have regarding the answer to the question 3. Let us know your thoughts.

I am a bit confused about answer number 7 because it says you have to return from where you bought it or can return to the factory. There is no retail manager but the answer is a retail manager. I am really confused! Could you please elaborate? Thanks.
In the passage – Do not take this medicine on an empty stomach or immediately before lying down. Question 1: You should lie down after you have taken the medicine. The answer is ‘False’. Explanation: “Do not lie down after taking the medicine” is same as “Do not take this medicine immediately before lying down.” but in the question, it says the opposite – “You should lie down after you have taken the medicine” – that’s why it is ‘FALSE’.

Another example: Say the opinion was that you must eat after taking the medicine (as absurd as it sounds). The text implies that you must eat before. That doesn’t mean that you must eat after.
I disagree Faisal. Lying down before taking the medicine is not the same as lying down after taking it. However, it may be that the deeper meaning of this instruction is that you allow your body to digest the medicine better by not lying down, but this is not what the text says. The text simply says that you shouldn’t lie down or be on empty stomach BEFORE taking the medicine. Hence either the answer or the text is wrong.
The answer to the question 7, I used Capital letter for Retailing Manager (R and M capital). Is it correct?

I want to ask if those words in brackets are counted as one word or what? For example, the instruction says ‘no more than three words’, from question 5 (on the) bottom (of jar). Are those three words or five words? Please someone should assist with that question. I have my exam on 30th. Thanks.
As far as I am concerned, it seems confusing. However, the answer “No” is absolutely correct. “Do not take this medicine on an empty stomach or immediately before lying down” May be rewritten concisely as “Do not lie down after taking medicine”. Hence, this is just opposite to the given option. The third one is tricky as well, “you must continue to take it until the bottle is empty” means, even if you feel better but you must empty the bottle. I hope you get it.
I agree, as there is no information about what to do “after” medication. Information in the passage is about “before” or “empty stomach”. I guess the paragraph says “You must continue”. However, the question says – “You must stop”. I believe this may be the keywords to answer it as ‘No’.
The answers to questions 1 and 3 should be NOT GIVEN instead of NO.
1. “You should lie down after you have taken the medicine.” There is no information about this in the passage, why the answer is NO I don’t get it, It should be ‘Not Given’. It only says do not lie down immediately before taking the medicine.
3. “You must stop taking the medicine when you feel better.” There is no information about this in the reading passage. I simply don’t understand why answers to questions 1 and 3 are ‘NO’; it should be ‘Not Given’. Please explain.
1 and 3 are not clear.
