Note: This concert will be held in the Conservatorium Rose Carden, not in the Concert Hall.
D. Rock n’ Roll
Bop along ’til late to the rock hits of the last 10 years. Bands playing include The Hippies, The Hypers, and The Heroes. If you have a special request, write it down at the ticket counter when you come in.

Read the information below on treatment for snake bite and answer Questions 11-15.
FIRST AID FOR SNAKE BITES
Snakes are not normally aggressive and tend to bite only when they are threatened or mishandled. Some snakes, e.g. the carpet snake, are not poisonous. Others, e.g. the brown snake, tiger snake and taipan, are very poisonous.
A Prevention
◻ leave snakes alone and do not collect snakes
◻ do not put your hands in hollow logs, under piles of wood, or in rubbish
◻ be noisy when walking in the bush
◻ look carefully when walking through thick grass
◻ use a torch around camps at night
B Symptoms and signs
These do not appear immediately, but from about 15 minutes to 2 hours after the casualty is bitten. There are often no visible symptoms or signs. Take seriously any information from a casualty concerning:
◻ strong emotional reaction
◻ headache or double vision
◻ drowsiness, giddiness or faintness
◻ nausea and/or vomiting and diarrhoea
◻ puncture marks about 1 centimetre apart at the site of the bite. Bites are usually on the limbs, especially the legs.
◻ breddening
◻ bruising
◻ sweating
◻ breathing difficulties
C Management
◻ reassure the casualty
◻ apply a pressure immobilisation bandage over the bitten area and around the limb
◻ seek medical aid urgently
D Snakebite Warnings
◻ never wash the venom off the skin as this will help in later identification
◻ never cut or squeeze the bitten area
◻ never try to suck the venom out of the wound

The passage “First Aid for Snake Bites” explains what to do in the event of a snake bite.
Read the additional instructions below and choose the section A-D to which each instruction belongs.

14. Do not try to catch the snake – why should it go under the ‘D’ section if it is in section A? (leave snakes alone and do not collect snakes).
In the last heading of the passage, Snakebite warnings: it is mentioned do not try to catch the snake is a warning, not prevention. So the answer is D, not A.
All the points under snakebite warnings are measures to be taken after one is bit by a snake. Therefore, how is “do not try to catch a snake” part of snakebite warnings? Whereas, it is mentioned under prevention “do not collect snakes”, which means “do not try to catch a snake”. So the answer is A, not D. Hope this helps everyone. Thanks.
It is clearly written in the passage ‘snake bite warnings’ in paragraph D whereas paragraph A is about prevention. ‘Do not try to catch the snake is a clear warning, not prevention…’
Answers to questions 14 & 15 are wrong. They should be A & D respectively.

Hi, how come the answer to the 14th and 15th questions are D and B instead of A & C?
The answer is 32 which is titled LETTERS TO THE EDITOR. Check the editor’s note on the magazine. It says they published some LETTERS RECEIVED ON THE NEW SPORTS STADIUM under the cover story two last month…

Why the answer to question 14 is D?
Some answers are not correct…
May I know why the answer to question 14 is D? As per the passage, it should be A. Please clarify.
How does the phrase “EACH HOUR” means “EACH LESSON”?
The answer to the question 17th should be ‘NG’ because it clearly says that each hour consists of 50 minute’s tuition and a 10 minute’s break. We cannot just assume that each lecture is an hour long.
Tip: Don’t assume situations from the texts, just derive the information from it. It says EACH hour which means there will be a break of 10 mins. So it’s true.
Sir, I am searching for PDF files of General Training reading, writing, speaking, and listening modules.

10 minutes break could be at the start of a lecture or at the end of the lecture as it is blatant that 50 minutes lecture will continue “non-stop”. In either case, there comes a gap between two lessons. ‘TRUE’ I think, seems to be more convincing.
If you can check the location and time of the courses, you will see, it says, before the entry to the school, students must take an entry test to determine the level of class they enter. That’s why it is ‘true’. You may have never read through this section as it is in last lines and not in order. Do not hesitate that as it will never happen in a real IELTS reading test.

Agree… 50 minutes doesn’t mean 1 complete lesson. The answer should be ‘NOT GIVEN’.
Kindly tell me the reason why the answer in number 16 is true?
The answer to the question 17 should be ‘Not Given’ because the break the leaflet says there will be a 10 minutes break, but it wasn’t specified if the break will be at end of lecture or not. If the break is at the end of the lecture then ‘True’ is correct, but if this is not specified, the ‘Not Given’ is more accurate.
I think you’re asking about Question 19. The correct answer is of course “False”. Referring to Student Holidays section, it implies that “ONLY students on long courses” can take a holiday. Now, back to the Q-19. The writer used the word ANY student permitted to a week’s holiday.
Q-12 seems to be “true” based on the information provided in “Student Holidays” section?
