Sample Essay:
Equality and personal achievement are two essential concepts that have gained increasing attention in recent years. While some argue that egalitarian societies promote greater personal achievement, others believe that personal achievement is only possible through individual meritocracy. In this essay, I will discuss both views and provide my own opinion.
On the one hand, advocates of egalitarian societies argue that everyone has an equal opportunity to achieve their goals regardless of their background or socio-economic status. In such societies, there are fewer obstacles to achieving success, and people are more likely to receive the resources and support they need to succeed. Moreover, in egalitarian societies, people feel more motivated to achieve their goals because they are not held back by external factors such as discrimination or economic inequality.
On the other hand, supporters of meritocracy argue that personal achievement is only possible through individual merit and hard work. In this view, people who work hard and demonstrate exceptional skills and talents should be rewarded accordingly, regardless of their background or socio-economic status. Meritocracy promotes healthy competition and encourages individuals to strive for excellence, as they are aware that their success is a result of their own efforts and abilities.
In my opinion, both views have their merits. While egalitarian societies may provide greater opportunities for people to achieve their goals, individual merit should not be overlooked. A society that values meritocracy encourages people to work hard and strive for excellence, which ultimately benefits both individuals and society as a whole. To illustrate, consider the case of two individuals with equal talents and abilities, but different socio-economic backgrounds. In an egalitarian society, both individuals would have equal opportunities to achieve their goals. However, in a meritocratic society, the individual who works harder and demonstrates greater skill and dedication would be more likely to suc
