Question 1) How well-respected are teachers in your society?
Answer: In my society, teachers are traditionally held in very high regard. So, I would say, they are properly respected. In many Asian cultures, teaching is seen not just as a profession but almost as a noble responsibility because teachers help shape future generations. Even today, students often maintain lifelong respect for their teachers, and it’s quite common to greet them formally even years after graduation. However, I would say that while the cultural respect still exists, the social status of teachers has slightly declined compared to the past.
Question 2) Do you think teachers get paid enough money in your country?
Answer: Well, honestly, I don’t think teachers are paid enough, especially considering the amount of responsibility they carry. Teaching is not limited to classroom hours; rather, teachers also prepare lessons, grade assignments, and often support students emotionally. In many Asian countries, salaries for school teachers are relatively modest compared to jobs in business or technology. Because of this, some talented graduates hesitate to enter the profession, which is quite unfortunate because education really depends on attracting capable people.
Question 3) What role should the teacher have in the classroom?
Answer: I believe a teacher should act more as a facilitator rather than simply a lecturer. In the past, classrooms were very teacher-centred, where students mainly listened and memorised information. But nowadays, learning is more effective when students actively participate. So, the teacher’s role should be to guide discussions, encourage critical thinking, and create an environment where students feel comfortable expressing ideas. Of course, teachers still need to provide structure and expertise, but they shouldn’t dominate the learning process completely.
Question 4) In your opinion, what are the most important qualities for a good teacher to have?
Answer: Well, in my opinion, patience is probably the most essential quality because students learn at different speeds and have different personalities. A good teacher also needs strong communication skills so that complex ideas can be explained in simple ways. Another important trait is empathy. When teachers understand students’ struggles, whether academic or personal, they can support them more effectively.
Question 5) In your opinion, how can a teacher make lessons for children more interesting?
Answer: I think lessons become more engaging when teachers connect learning to real life. For example, instead of only explaining concepts from textbooks, they can use stories, games, or practical activities. Technology can also help, such as short videos or interactive quizzes, because children today are very visually oriented. Another effective approach is encouraging participation through group work or problem-solving tasks, since children usually learn better when they are actively involved rather than just listening passively.
Question 6) Do you think computers will one day replace teachers in the classroom?
Answer: I don’t believe computers will completely replace teachers, although they will certainly become more important in education. Technology is excellent for delivering information, practising skills, and providing personalised learning materials. However, teaching also involves emotional support, motivation, and human interaction, which machines cannot fully replicate. Especially for younger students, encouragement and personal guidance from a teacher play a crucial role. So, in my view, computers will act as powerful tools that assist teachers rather than replace them.
