IELTS Speaking Part 2: IELTS Cue Card/ Candidate Task Card.
[The topic for your talk will be written on a card which the examiner will hand over to you. Read it carefully and then make some brief notes.]
Describe a company or organisation where you would like to work.
You should say:
- what type of company or organisation it is
- how you know about it
- what qualifications would be required for you to work there
and explain why you are interested in working in this company or organisation.

Selecting a good company to work for has always been a challenge for many professionals, and I am no exception. But, still, if I am given the options, I would like to go for a large multinational company or corporation.
One such large, multinational company happens to be one of the largest food processing companies in my country named "FoodnLife" where I would definitely like to work for a change, to see how it really feels to work for a large corporation.
I first came to learn about this company a few years ago through the advertisement for a regional job fair (published in a local newspaper) that took place in my own town. I really wanted to attend the job fair, but unfortunately, I didn’t get any time off on that day from my current job. Later on, I came to know that the company had started its operation in my country not too long ago, and it had very stiff qualification requirements.
In fact, talking about the qualification requirements, one has to have the highest educational qualification in food processing technologies as well as a degree in business administration. Besides, one also has to have the experience of working as a nutrition specialist for at least a few years, just to join the company as an entry-level executive. However, even though I have an MBA and some working experience at a leading chocolate manufacturing company, I don’t have any experience working as a Nutrition Specialist. So, I guess that I would first need some kind of diploma or degree if I really want to expect to be hired by that food processing company.
Anyway, I want to work for this company, mainly because it offers ample opportunities for career development. For example, the company has a cross-sectional hiring policy where one employee can transfer to another department within the same company if he meets the required skills and qualifications. I would like to work in the company also because it has a very handsome and lucrative salary and pension scheme, considered to be one of the best in my country.

Microsoft is a multinational technology company that develops, licenses, and sells computer software, cloud computing solution, consumer electronics, and personal computers. It is one of the most reputable and well-known companies globally, with a wide range of products and services.
How you know about it:
I first learned about Microsoft during high school. I later learned more about this company in my university. At that time, I was fascinated by its software development tools, programming languages, and cloud computing services. As I pursued my studies in computer science, I came to understand the vast potential of this company and the valuable contribution it has made in shaping the technology landscape.
What qualifications would be required for you to work there:
To work at Microsoft as a software developer, one would need to have a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Candidates would also require a strong foundation in programming languages such as Java, C#, C++, or Python, along with an excellent understanding of software development methodologies and concepts. Besides, candidates with experience in cloud computing and data analytics would have a competitive advantage.

I can think of several reasons for which I am interested in working for Microsoft. Firstly, the company has a long-standing reputation for innovation and groundbreaking technological advancements. I would be thrilled to work alongside talented individuals who share my passion for software development and contribute to the company's growth. Secondly, Microsoft offers a vast range of opportunities for professional development, including training and certification programs, mentoring, and career advancement paths.
