Model Answer 1:

Dear Robert,

It seems like ages since we last met and time indeed flies. I am very sorry that I had not been in touch with you as frequently as I should have in the last few months. I had been terribly busy and could scarcely manage time for myself or for my family. I hope Samantha and Anna are doing great.

I have decided to enrol in a professional graphics designing course in Melbourne, Australia and I went through websites of different colleges from Melbourne.  You are the best person I know to advise me on this. I prefer a college from your city because my uncle lives there with his family and being in the same city where you live in would be an added advantage.

For the last three years, I have been working as a tech support member for a large IT company and as you know Math was my major in our school. I am quite confused which college I should apply to and this is why I am turning to you for the advice. I would really appreciate your help regarding this. Also, can you find out what additional qualifications like an English language test score and so on are required?

I hope you would not mind doing this for me and I would proceed according to your advice.

Take care and write me back when it is convenient for you.

With lots of love and best wishes.

Anthony.

Model Answer 2:

Dear Mary,

Hi! There, it has been so long since I have heard from you. How is the weather in Australia? I am writing this letter to ask you some information about the courses offered at different colleges in Brisbane.

After the completion of my post-graduation in chemistry, I have been working as a chemist in one of the best laboratories in India. My regular duties are to analyse the quality of food products as well as to check whether they pass NABL prescribed standards or not. As my employer is pleased with my work he has handed me a new responsibility of molecular modelling. I do not have any perfection in that field. So, I would like to join a molecular designing course over there in your city.

I would be thankful to you if you search and inform me the details of the appropriate institution with relevant contact numbers.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours,
Vishwa.

Model Answer 3:

Dear Ali,

I hope this letter finds you in good spirits. I am writing to enquire some details about the internal audit related courses at a leading college in London.

As you know, I hail from a family where everyone is involved in the financial sector. Needless to say, I got my tertiary education from a business school, and at present, I am working as an Internal Auditor in a textile corporation, but I have been stuck with the same designation for 2 years. Therefore, in order to climb further up the corporate ladder,

I would like to update my skills and knowledge, and the most plausible way to do that would be getting a foreign degree from London, UK. Having spent a copious amount of hours on researching the right institutions, I have narrowed down my options to just three colleges.

My intention in writing this letter is to ask for your assistance in getting in touch with those colleges. Perhaps you could dispatch me their customised brochures or prospectuses since due to the highly complex nature of these programs, information in the public domain is hard to find about these courses.

I look forward to receiving your response.

Warmest Regards,

Sam.

Sample Answer 4:

Dear Aparna,

Hope this letter finds you in a good health. I am writing this letter to share an exciting news that I am planning to join a course in your city.

I have been working as a software engineer in an MNC for the last four years, after finishing my engineering degree. So, I thought it is the right time to work on one of my dreams; i.e. to acquire a management degree. I am planning to leave the job and apply for a part-time management course in Sydney. Though I have inquired online for few of the colleges, could you confirm the details of accommodation facilities, course structure and fees by calling them?

I could not call due to the time difference between these two countries. I guess it would be easier for me to find a part-time job as I have professional experience. It would be helpful if you could share some popular job sites as well.

Looking forward to your reply.

Naaz.

Sample Answer 5:

Dear Mimi,

Sorry I haven't contacted you for a month. I am really busy these days that I hardly have time to wind down. I hope things are going smoothly with your studies. By the way, guess what? I am thinking of applying to Oxford University too, which means we'll be living in the same city. How great is that?

As you know, ever since I finished my psychology degree four years ago, I have been working full time in human resources field. I'm currently working as an HR consultant, but I am especially interested in organisational development. That's why I decided to do a master's degree in ‘Organisational Psychology’. I've always wanted to pursue a postgraduate degree after all.

I am planning to submit my application to the university soon. However, I was recently assigned to work on a three-month project in Hongkong, so I don't know when I'll have the opportunity to contact the admission office. Do you mind contacting them to ask about their specific entry requirements? That would be a great help if you do.

Let me know what you think. Talk to you soon.

With love,
Helen

Model Answer 7:

Dear Rachel,

Sorry, I haven't written for ages. I have been so busy over the last year and I never seem to have a minute to myself.

I'd like to study electrical engineering at university in Australia next year and I hope you can give me some advice. I think I would prefer Melbourne because I know a few people from my visit last year. This year I'm doing maths and physics at school and I hope to do well in my exams. However, I really don't know which university to apply to, so could you send me some information about different colleges? Also, can you find out what qualifications I need? For instance, as an overseas student, do I have to take an English test?

I hope you don't mind doing this for me. It is much better to get this information from someone who lives in the country, so I hope to hear from you soon. Many thanks.

Your Faithfully

George Baker

Dear Kashif,

Hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to let you know that I have taken up your advice to complete my masters' degree from a British university.

As you know, I have been working with the same company for a year now. During these past few months, I have realized that my skills are inadequate for the position I want to achieve in the Financial sector. Needless to say, a meticulous foreign degree that offers post graduation work will remedy my problem.

Your advice on this matter means a great deal to me and keeping the generous offer in mind, that I can stay with you until I graduate has made me decide to take up your kind advice. Furthermore, I would appreciate if you could email me some detailed custom brochures from the top 5 universities in London that could help me decide on a university that suits my budget and academic achievements.

Looking forward to your reply.

Sincerely yours,
Taimur.
