IELTS Writing Task 2/ IELTS Essay:

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Nowadays information can be accessed on electronic devices so print media like magazine and newspapers are not important and people should use electronic devices to get information.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with the above statement.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

You should write at least 250 words.

Sample Answer:
In the modern world, people want to get information about the every aspect of life easily and instantly. With the advancement in technology, an individual can access the information through electronic devices like computer, mobile phones, the internet etc. and thus the print media is losing its popularity. I agree with this statement that people should adopt the new technology and use electronic devices to get information rather than old ways of getting them.

Multifarious points are there to prove my view. Firstly, accessing information in a computer with internet connection is very fast and convenient. People just need to enter a keyword in the search engine such as Google and the information can be assessed instantly from various reliable sources with detailed references. Secondly, individual have the opportunity to get different views regarding one particular subject which help them to broaden their horizons. Thirdly, today everybody wants to live a comfortable lifestyle and they have no need to carry other things and no need to pay extra on print media. Finally, the information presented in a print media becomes outdated soon while the information on the internet gets updated regularly. So accessing information from electronic sources is more reliable and accurate.

On the other hand, some people ponder that magazines and newspapers play an essential role because elder people do not know the 'ABC' about electronic gadgets so they are unable to use them to access information. They also add the logic that, on the internet, English is a staple language but some part of the population is not familiar with English which is really tough to understand for them. Finally, they assert that newspapers, magazines and books are printed in each language which provides them with a comfortable way of accessing them.

In a nutshell, I would like to conclude that government should organise awareness program for elders how they can use electronic devices because we all need to live in a modern society. The old way of accessing information would not be feasible in near future and people would mainly rely on the electronic device to get them.

Hi, would you please give me feedback on this? Thanks in advance.

Topic: Some people say that the internet allows us to stay connected with each other no matter where we are. According to others, it also isolates us and encourages people not to socialize.

Which viewpoint do you agree with?

Writing task 2:
The internet is a blessing of modern science and technology. People stay connected through the use of this technology and to them, this has reduced the distance among people and has enabled us to stay connected with our near and dear ones. But some people assume that the internet separates people and our dependency on it deters us from making face to face communication and socialising. In my opinion, though the internet provides us with an opportunity to share our views with our relatives, colleagues and friends, it makes people alone as the physical attachment reduces significantly among the users of the internet.

Nowadays, different social media play a vital role in our personal, social and political life. People can connect and share their thoughts, views, status with others easily via the internet even with those who stay far away. Various social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Imo, Viber, Skype etc help to connect people instantly. Now video chats on platforms like Skype and Zoom are also a familiar way to communicate with people. It is used not only for personal relationships but also for business communication.

But, with the increasing use of the internet, people have become isolated today as virtual communication can not express and convey physical and emotional attachment in a meaningful way. So, interactions with other people remain less personal. That is why people now maintain a virtual relationship than making actual friends. We may have many online friends, but these friendships are not all real. Moreover, we used to visit our near and dear ones most of the time in the past. Now we make video calls. This is less personal and often deter us from making real bonds with others.

To summarize, despite the fact that the internet has made communication over tech-based devices easier, faster and cheap but with the cost of personal and face to face communication and interactions.

Hi,
I wish to get a grading/ scoring for my writing sample. Thanks in advance for helping me. Here is my writing task 2:

Topic: The internet allows us to stay connected with each other no matter where we are. On the other hand, it also isolates us and encourages people not to socialize.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The internet is a blessing of modern science. People stay connected through the use of it. Some people assume that the internet isolates people and is a hindrance for modern people to socialise. In my opinion, though the internet provides us with an opportunity to share our views with our relatives, colleagues and friends, it makes people solitary as the physical attachment reduces.

Nowadays, different social media play a vital role in our life when it comes to remaining attached to people we care about. People can connect and share their thoughts, views, status with others easily via the internet even with those who stay far away. Various social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Imo, Viber, Skype etc help to connect with each other. They are used not only for personal communication but also for business purposes. Moreover, location and distance do not matter to stay connected these days. People can meet their needs through the internet which provides various facilities including e-banking, business, shopping, booking, payment of utility bills etc.

Some other people, on the other hand, argue that people become lonely and isolated today as no physical and emotional attachment is directly related to each other with their online communication. Recently, people can do all the activities through the internet. So, interaction with other people happens less frequently than in the past. That is why people now maintain a virtual relationship than actual friendship.

In conclusion, the internet has a profound and often negative impact on our day to day activities and we can remain connected to all of our well-wishers but with the cost of personal and emotional attachments of real-life communication and interactions.
