Some people think that teachers should be responsible for teaching students to judge what is right and wrong to grow up as good members of society. Others say that teachers should only teach students academic subjects.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.

Some argue that teachers should take on the responsibility of teaching students to discern right from wrong, fostering their growth as responsible and ethical members of society. On the other hand, some believe that teachers should solely focus on imparting academic knowledge. In this essay, I shall explore both views and opine that teachers should actively guide students in developing their moral compass and understanding the importance of ethical conduct.
Some suggest that teachers play a crucial role in instilling moral values in students. By integrating discussions on ethics and values into their lessons, teachers can help young learners navigate the complexities of right and wrong. For example, through literature and history lessons, teachers can prompt critical thinking about moral dilemmas and ethical choices faced by characters or historical figures. This encourages students to develop empathy, compassion, and a sense of responsibility towards others.
On the other hand, opponents of this view argue that teachers should concentrate solely on academic subjects to ensure students' intellectual growth and success in exams. They contend that moral education should be the responsibility of families and religious institutions. This approach aims to maintain a clear distinction between the roles of educators and parents.
I believe that the role of teachers extends beyond academic knowledge. Teachers hold a unique position to guide students in understanding the ethical implications of their actions. By providing a nurturing environment for open discussions and moral reflections, teachers can help students develop a strong sense of integrity and social responsibility.
In conclusion, while academic subjects are undeniably essential for intellectual growth, teachers have a profound influence on shaping students' character and values. Therefore, teachers should embrace their role as moral educators, guiding students to distinguish right from wrong, and helping them become honest, empathetic, and responsible members of society.

Whether educators should be responsible for teaching learners what is right and what is wrong is an ongoing debate with some claiming that it should be a primary responsibility of teachers while others opining that teaching academic lessons is their only responsibility. This essay shall explore both views and opine that teachers should teach academic subjects to learners while parents should take charge of their moral development.
The proponents of teaching ethical lessons to help learners become responsible adults in society believe that the true purpose of education goes beyond academic knowledge and successful careers. Since teachers are the moulder of young learners' character and future, they should also help them become better members of society. For instance, moral values, character education and soft skills have been slowly but gradually added to school curricula in many countries with the aim that teachers would focus on shaping pupils' ethics and morality in schools. If they were expected only to teach academic lessons, the authority would never have added those character and righteousness-building subjects.
On the other hand, those who believe that a teacher's role should be restricted to teaching academic subjects opine that parents are responsible to teach values and moral teaching to children. This is because students should learn important academic subjects in schools while developing good human qualities at home. They keep arguing that if educators focus on building young children's virtues, they would fail to teach other important academic skills to those learners. For instance, many schools already struggle to complete the academic syllabus within the prescribed time. If they are burdened with taking on children's morality-developing responsibilities, they would have to finish the academic calendar without completing the syllabus.
In my opinion, teachers should teach academic stuff while parents should shoulder the responsibility to develop their offspring's character and morality. This way, responsibilities would be shared and properly conducted.
To conclude, I think teachers should only focus on academic studies instead of teaching the learner about righteousness and wrongness. Our parents are better candidates for this responsibility.

Many believe that teachers should be accountable for their student’s moral and ethical development, while others opine that educators’ role should be confined to imparting academic lessons to learners. This essay will discuss both points of view and argue that instructors can share the responsibility for inculcating manners and morality in young students along with academic course training.
Many support the teacher’s role in students’ behaviour and ethical moulding. They think that students spend a good deal of time with their educators in school, and they obey their teachers. So it is easy for instructors to develop a positive relationship with students and teach them moral lessons when they teach them in the classroom. Moreover, many students consider their teachers as their role models. So the students would accept the ethical and moral instructions delivered by the teachers. An example in this case could be my high school teacher Ms. Johnson who was known for her compassionate and nurturing approach towards her students. She was also well respected by all students. She not only imparted academic knowledge but also emphasized the importance of honesty, respect, and empathy in her lessons.
On the contrary, many others advocate that academic subjects must be the only priority for educators. They believe that this encourages teachers to concentrate only on coursework and thereby contribute to better academic achievements of the students. This can be substantiated by the fact that schools have extensive academic and extracurricular activities these days. So if they engage teachers in instilling morality among learners, they would find it difficult to finish the required syllabus before the end of the academic year. Therefore, the teacher's role should be solely to teach academic lessons.
After thoroughly analysing both perspectives, it is evident that although teachers’ primary role is guiding students in academic coursework, they should also get involved in creating future citizens with good conduct and morality. Since academic and moral lessons could be combined and delivered to the learners, teachers should thrive to achieve both in the classroom.

To begin with, in kindergartens, children merely learn how to communicate and how to socialise rather than learning to master academic subjects. The purpose of teachers should be to assist children's socialisation and personality development. In this stage, teaching academic subjects is not the first priority of teachers. Instead, teachers are more likely to build up a role model for students so that young children can establish adequate ethical perspectives, well-socialised behaviour and a correct judgmental foundation.
From primary schools to high schools, teachers, indeed, play a more complicated role in terms of teaching. Juveniles get easily influenced by the external environment and other peers' behaviour. As a result, teachers are expected to guide those students on the correct path as well as to teach them a wage diversity of knowledge for their future careers. During this period, teaching and guiding students are equally important for teachers.
After that, in university and higher education, most of the students are, compared to previous stages, equivalently mature enough to take responsibility for their own behaviour. Therefore, there is no need for teachers and professors to teach those students how to judge right and wrong. Knowledge exchange is likely to be the major relationship maker for the teachers and students at this stage.
In conclusion, undoubtedly, teachers have pivotal roles to play in student's life. The role of teachers does strongly associate with the age of students.
