Model Answer :
History tells about the old civilisations, their strategies, their way of living, world conflict and the ways people overcame it. So I don't agree that history has a little to tell us.

The basic characteristics, sufferings, crisis and wit are same for all the ages of the human kind. The way people struggled to achieve a better life in the primitive time is very much similar to the present time. The ways may be different but the theme is same and there is lots of evidence that the study of past history reviles a new invention to the present people. Though it is true that history itself is disputed as it has been written by the winners and sometimes history differs from place to place. For example: according to Indian History, English came to rule the country and had destroyed the peaceful lifestyle there by treachery and cunning strategies but in English history the English are heroes and they claim to modernise the Indian. In my opinion, nonetheless history has it's invaluable importance to all of us will remain until the end of the human race.

How could we know about the great people who had sacrificed their lives for the betterment of the world or those who have cruelly tried to bring suffering for people? History tells us a lot about the people of all centuries. History suggests the different techniques that can be malevolent or beneficial for a country by presenting practical evidence. Again, history tells us about the devastating wars and potentially warns us about the conflict of nations. History suggests us about the good and evil and helps us to choose the appropriate way.

Essay Topic: Some people think history has nothing or little to tell us, but others think that studying the past history can help us better understand the present.Discuss the two views and give your own opinion.Throughout the past decades, humankind had gradually paid fewer attentions to their previous history and ways of life. They are now living a carefree life and seem not to learn from the past events and lessons that history has to offer. I’m extremely disappointed when some people opine that history has nothing or little to tell and teach us. In my view, I love history because it’s the crucial key to understanding the present and the future. I’ll express both views as well as my opinion through the following paragraphs.Firstly, history helps mankind (especially young generations) see the value of the present life and plan for the future. History is not merely some meaningless story and events. It is a collection of important epics and events that have shaped the human civilisation and modern world. Young generations must not ignore those who made sacrifices for the fatherland and made it possible for us to prosper. Being a Vietnamese, I pride myself on my nation’s heroic history: my great Ho Chi Minh President, the Dien Bien Phu campaign and soldiers’ willingness to sacrifice for independence. Forgetting the history is like denying our own glorious past and thus I believe that history has a lot more to offer to us than we can fathom. Secondly, history ignites inspiration among the young generation and lead them to the right way. Our forefather’s achievements and sacrifices are deeply rooted in our history. Young generations might inherit and develop them for the betterment of the world. There is no doubt that modern technological life owes previous great inventions and to great inventors. For example, all of us use the light bulb as an indispensable household appliance. Surprisingly, many people don’t know that it was invented by Thomas Edison in the 19th century. And today, all light bulbs are based on its basic principle. Last but not the least, inventions and discoveries in history made great contributions to the civilised life we are leading now. Submarine, printer, train, aeroplane, bicycle, steam-engine which we are using in our day to day life are the results of manual workers’ perspiration. In conclusion, we cannot deny the vital role of history in our life. Human should study history carefully and then learn from the past.
