Model Answer 1: [Yes, we are living in the best time in history]
The world has undergone numerous transformations over the centuries, and the current era seems like doing it more progressively. So, some people believe that this is the best time in history to live in. I completely agree with this viewpoint, and I believe that this is the best time to be alive. In this essay, I will also mention a period which I believe would be quite interesting to live in.
One reason why I believe that now is the best time in history to live is the advancements in technology. Technology has revolutionized every aspect of our lives, making it easier and more convenient. With the advent of the internet, the world has become a global village, enabling individuals to connect and communicate with each other regardless of their location. Additionally, technology has contributed to significant developments in medical science, making it possible to treat and cure diseases that were once considered incurable. We no longer have simple and curable diseases that claim millions of lives overnight. This is indeed a blessing.
Another reason to think of the current time as the best period to live in is that society is becoming more accepting and inclusive. Discrimination based on race, gender, and sexual orientation has significantly reduced. We have progressed significantly towards gender and racial equality, with more representation and opportunities being given to historically underrepresented groups. In addition, society has become more tolerant of differences in lifestyle choices, such as those related to religion, marriage, and personal beliefs.
In my personal belief, the Renaissance period, which took place from the 14th to the 17th century, would be a fascinating time to live in. This period was marked by a revival of art, literature, and learning, which transformed the cultural landscape of Europe. The great artists, philosophers, and scientists of the time produced some of the most enduring works of human history, and their ideas and innovations continue to influence us today. Living during this time would have provided the opportunity to witness firsthand the birth of new ideas and the development of new technologies, as well as the flourishing of artistic and intellectual expression.
In conclusion, while there have been ups and downs in history, I believe that now is the best time to be alive. The advancements in technology and the increase in acceptance all contribute to this belief.
Model Answer 2: [No, we do not live in the best time in history]
In recent times, there has been a widespread belief that the current period is the best time in history to live in. In contrast to this popular belief, I consider that there were other eras in the past which were much better in terms of prosperity, peace, and quality of life. In this essay, I will explain I would rather prefer to live in the Renaissance period than now, and why this would have been an exciting time to live in.
The current era is fraught with numerous challenges such as climate change, political instability, and economic inequality, which threaten the well-being of people around the world. The ever-increasing global population, coupled with dwindling resources, has created a dire situation that requires immediate attention. Furthermore, the current pandemic has highlighted the vulnerabilities of modern societies, particularly in terms of healthcare and social welfare systems. These issues were not as prominent during other periods in history.
One era that particularly stands out as the best time in history to live in is the Renaissance. This period marked a significant advancement in various fields such as art, literature, science, and architecture. People during the Renaissance had a zest for knowledge and creativity that is unmatched in any other period in history. The advent of printing technology led to an explosion in the dissemination of knowledge, making it accessible to a broader population. This period also witnessed peace and stability in many regions, which allowed for the flourishing of cultural and scientific endeavours.
In conclusion, while some may argue that the current era is the best time to live in, I think that it is not the most ideal time to live in. I would prefer to live in the period of the Renaissance if I had been offered the chance.
Model Answer 3: [we are living in the greatest time in history]
Without a doubt, we are living in an age of unparalleled technological, medical, scientific, and social progress, which has significantly improved the quality of life for many people. In this essay, I will agree that we are living in the greatest time in history, and then say why living in the golden age of Ancient Greece could have been interesting for a few reasons.
Some opine that a few past periods in history were quite interesting to live in. For example, the golden age of Ancient Greece was characterised by a flourishing of art, philosophy, and democracy, which had a significant impact on Western civilisation. Similarly, the Renaissance era saw a revival of learning, art, and culture, leading to significant advances in science, art, and literature. But, the reality is that no period in history can outperform the overall progress and facilities of modern times.
It is easy to see why now is the best time in history to be alive. Medical advancements have increased life expectancy and reduced the likelihood of serious illness, while technological innovations have made life easier and more comfortable. Moreover, globalisation and advancements in communication have allowed people to connect with others from different cultures and countries, leading to greater acceptance and understanding.
If I had to pick a period to live in as a second choice, I would perhaps go for the golden age of Ancient Greece, which is generally considered to be from the 5th century BC to the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BC. This was a time of great intellectual and cultural achievements, where some of the most notable figures in philosophy, literature, and the arts were active. The concept of democracy also emerged in this era, which marked a significant milestone in human history. The Olympic Games also originated in Ancient Greece during this period, and they are still celebrated to this day. Living in Ancient Greece during the Golden Age would have provided a unique opportunity to witness and participate in the development of many important cultural and societal achievements that continue to impact the world today.
In conclusion, while some people believe that human history has had some of the greatest periods to live in, I believe that we are living in the best period in history because of the outstanding medical, technological, scientific, and social progress, which has remarkably enhanced the quality of life.

Main Question of This Essay:
Do you agree that the present time is the best to be living in, and what other time in history would you find interesting to live in?
Reasons why "Now" may be considered the best time in history to be living:
1. Technological advancements:
Modern technology has revolutionized communication, healthcare, and daily life, making it easier for people to connect and access information. The rapid progress in fields like artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and medicine has greatly improved the quality of life. For example, smartphones and the internet have allowed people to stay connected with friends and family across the globe at any time.
2. Higher life expectancy and improved healthcare:
Advances in medical science and healthcare systems have significantly extended life expectancy and reduced the impact of many diseases. With better access to treatment, people are living longer and healthier lives. For instance, vaccines and modern treatments have dramatically reduced mortality rates from diseases like polio and malaria.
3. A wide range of career opportunities:
In the present day, technological advances and globalization have created a vast array of career paths that were not available in previous eras. People can now pursue careers in fields such as digital marketing, data science, artificial intelligence, and remote work opportunities. The expansion of the gig economy and the ability to work online allows individuals to explore unconventional and flexible job options that align with their passions and skills. For example, someone interested in traveling can work as a travel blogger or digital nomad, blendingwork with personal interests. This diversity in career options has allowed more people to find fulfilling and flexible work opportunities.
4. Increased global connectivity:
With the rise of the internet and global transportation systems, the world is more connected than ever before. People can easily travel, work, and interact with others worldwide, leading to greater cultural exchange and understanding. For example, individuals can now attend online courses from universities in different countries, broadening their educational opportunities.
5. Greater social progress:
In recent decades, there have been significant strides in promoting equality and social justice. Many countries have made progress in gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights, and racial equality. For instance, women have gained more rights in the workforce, and there have been movements globally advocating for environmental sustainability.
6. Access to information and education:
With the digital age, knowledge and education are more accessible than ever. People can access online courses, books, articles, and videos to learn new skills and enhance their knowledge. For example, someone in a remote area can now access world-class education without leaving their home through platforms like Coursera or Khan Academy.
7. Improved access to basic needs like food, water, and shelter:
Across the globe, access to clean water, nutritious food, and safe living conditions has greatly improved due to technological advancements in agriculture, sanitation, and infrastructure. The development of new farming techniques, clean water solutions, and affordable housing is contributing to a better quality of life. For example, new agricultural technologies like hydroponics help produce food more efficiently, even in areas with limited arable land.
8. Global efforts for peace and diplomacy:
While challenges remain, modern diplomacy and international collaboration have led to greater peace and stability compared to earlier historical periods. Global organizations such as the United Nations and various peace treaties have helped reduce conflicts and promote human rights. For example, in recent years, there has been a concerted global effort to de-escalate tensions in regions like the Middle East, leading to improved relations and dialogue between nations.
Reasons why "now" may NOT be considered the best time in history to be living:
1. Environmental degradation and climate change:
The current era faces significant environmental challenges, including global warming, pollution, and deforestation. These issues threaten the stability of ecosystems, contribute to natural disasters, and pose long-term risks to human well-being. For example, rising sea levels and extreme weather events are becoming more frequent, making some regions uninhabitable and affecting millions of people.
2. Increased social inequality:
Despite economic progress, the gap between the rich and the poor has widened in many parts of the world. The concentration of wealth among the top 1% has led to a lack of access to resources and opportunities for large portions of the population. This inequality results in social unrest and worsens living conditions for disadvantaged groups, especially in urban areas.
3. Mental health challenges:
In today's fast-paced, interconnected world, mental health issues have become more prevalent. The pressure to succeed, constant comparison on social media, and the feeling of disconnection in an increasingly digital society have led to a rise in anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders. For example, younger generations are experiencing higher rates of stress and burnout compared to previous generations.
4. Political instability and conflicts:
Many parts of the world are currently facing political unrest, wars, and conflicts. From ongoing conflicts in the Middle East to political divisions in established democracies, instability can create insecurity, displace populations, and disrupt daily life. For example, many countries are dealing with internal strife, refugee crises, and rising nationalism, which complicates global peace efforts.
5. Loss of traditional values and cultural identity:
As globalization continues, many people feel that their cultural traditions and identities are being eroded. The spread of Western culture, through media and technology, has sometimes overshadowed local customs, leading to a loss of heritage and a sense of cultural disintegration. For example, younger generations may feel less connected to their roots and are often more influenced by global trends than by local customs and practices.
Other times in history that would be interesting to live in:
1. The Renaissance:
The Renaissance period was marked by a flourishing of art, science, and culture. This was a time of great intellectual and artistic achievements, and many renowned figures, such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, were active during this era. Living during this period would provide an opportunity to witness groundbreaking work in art and science firsthand. For example, seeing the creation of the Sistine Chapel or learning from the great thinkers of the time would be truly fascinating.
2. The Age of Exploration:
The 15th to 17th centuries was a time when explorers like Christopher Columbus, Vasco da Gama, and Ferdinand Magellan were making significant discoveries. Living during this time would allow one to witness the opening of new trade routes and the encounter of various cultures. For example, being part of a crew on one of these voyages would offer unique experiences in discovery and adventure.
3. The Industrial Revolution:
The Industrial Revolution in the 18th and 19th centuries transformed economies, societies, and technologies. Living during this period would be an exciting experience to see the rise of machinery, factories, and new industries. For example, watching the first trains and factories emerge would be like witnessing the birth of the modern world.
4. Ancient Egypt:
Ancient Egypt was a fascinating civilization known for its monumental achievements in architecture, mathematics, and medicine. The building of the pyramids and the development of a complex society offer a glimpse into one of the world’s oldest and most intriguing cultures. For example, experiencing the construction of the Great Pyramid of Giza would be an awe-inspiring event.
5. The 1960s:
The 1960s were a time of social change and cultural upheaval. This was the period of the Civil Rights Movement, the Space Race, and the rise of counterculture movements. Being alive during this time would provide the chance to witness major political and cultural shifts. For example, watching the first man land on the moon or being part of the civil rights marches would be significant historical experiences.
