Model Answer:
Advertising plays a significant role in the modern consumer-driven society, where businesses strive to promote their products and services to attract customers. Some argue that if a product is of high quality and fulfils consumer needs, advertising becomes redundant. In this essay, I will disagree with this view highlighting the importance of advertising even for superior products.
Advertising serves as a crucial tool for raising awareness about a product or service. Even if a product is of exceptional quality, consumers may not be aware of its existence without effective marketing campaigns. For example, a new and innovative smartphone with advanced features might not gain the attention it deserves without advertising efforts to inform potential buyers. So, even if a product is superior in quality and has innovative features, it can not create customer demand without advertising.
Moreover, advertising helps create a strong brand image and build brand loyalty among consumers. Even if a product satisfies customer needs, a well-executed advertising campaign can foster an emotional connection with the brand, leading to repeat purchases and brand advocacy. Companies like Apple and Coca-Cola are renowned for their successful advertising strategies that have created a loyal customer base. This is why, so many well-known brands run expensive advert campaigns before launching a new product to inform customers about their products.
In conclusion, while some argue that advertising is unnecessary for products that meet consumer needs, I firmly believe that advertising remains crucial for creating awareness, building brand loyalty, and staying competitive. Therefore, businesses should continue to invest in advertising as an essential element of their success in today's dynamic and competitive commercial landscape.
