IELTS Letter Writing / GT Writing Task 1:
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
You have bought a new camera but when you got it home you found it had some problems. You returned the camera and spoke to the company representative a week ago but the camera has still not been repaired.
Write a letter to the company. In your letter:
- introduce yourself
- explain the situation
- say what action you would like the company to take
You should write at least 150 words.
You do NOT need to write your own address.
Begin your letter as follows:
I am Ginna Maria, a resident of London, recently bought a Samsung digital camera from your showroom. I am writing to complain that I am yet to get my camera repaired or replaced.
I have bought Samsung NX210 20.3MP camera from 125 Oxford St, Soho showroom on 10th December. Unfortunately, it malfunctioned just after I took it home and tried to learn the functionality. Next day I visited your showroom and talked to Cynthia, one of your representative who assured me that the camera would be replaced within 24 hours. She advised me to call her before visiting your showroom. When I called her next day, she told me that it would take two days more and would be repaired instead of being replaced. When I demanded the reason, she ignored me.
It's been almost eight days since I purchased the camera from your store and I am yet to use it. The faulty product should be your responsibility, not consumers like us. One of my relatives has advised me to talk to the Consumer Right Authority and file a complaint against your company but I will wait till 24th (the day before the Christmas).
I still believe your brand reputation and care for the consumers. I would like you to take immediate action against the misconduct I experienced.
