Write about the following topic:
Most major cities around the world continue to grow at a phenomenal rate due to the massive increase in population. This has led to a general decline in the quality of life in city areas as the environment becomes more crowded and polluted.
Give some reasons why this growth has occurred and suggest some practical solutions to this problem.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Model Answer 1:
The tremendous expansion of the metropolises and the worsening environment in such areas are major dilemmas in the contemporary world. Our classic towns and villages, with gardens and playgrounds, have turned into ugly concrete jungles, and that has led to a deterioration in people's living standards. This has primarily happened due to the mass migration to cities for better careers and amenities. The establishment of pristine societies and self-reliant suburban systems can improve the situation dramatically.
This urban sprawl could be attributed to two primary reasons. First, the migration of skilled and unskilled workers from rural to modernized societies, seeking better jobs and higher quality of life, has accelerated it. It is evident that tens of thousands of people move to cities each year where they think they will have better careers and earnings. Secondly, city-centric education, healthcare, and other amenities have tempted people to move to cities. Take my grandfather as an example who moved to our capital city approximately 45 years ago with the hope that he would ensure better education for his children. This colossal movement of population to metro areas has increased the cost of living while declining the living standard.
The government needs to find effective solutions to check the mass migration of people to cities, and also prevent the deterioration of these municipalities and people's living standards there. Firstly, the construction of pristine societies where environmental standards can rival what used to be in our cities in retrospect could be a great initiative. Then, the authority can encourage people to live in towns and rural areas by providing important facilities, such as health coverage, free education, and child benefits. For instance, if people in suburban areas are offered health insurance and education for free, they would not plan to move to cities where treatments and child education are generally much more expensive. Moreover, the development of the suburban area to create more jobs is also essential without compromising its green nature. This could be achieved by constructing more schools, offices, and business centres while also setting higher minimum wages in these areas.
In conclusion, the explosion of population in municipalities kills our future and hope. So we - the government, civil societies and individuals, must tackle this crisis before it aggravates beyond our control.

Rapid developments in megacities and mass migration of population to these metropolitans with the hope of better life, career and future have ushered in a perplexing conundrum that leads to a worsening life standard, crowd and pollution in such big cities. City-centric development, better-earning prospects and amenities in large cities have primarily stimulated the development of this situation. The government needs to decentralise and focus on the development of suburban and rural areas to reverse the scenario.
Most megacities develop faster than any other part of the country and attract millions of people who migrate from other areas. This situation stems from the fact that the authority enables city-centric growth which makes the big cities the hub for business, trade, manufacturing, education, research, employment and so on. This city-centric development forces people to move to big cities to add more woes to the already deteriorating situation there. A large factory, for example, in a city can hire thousands of people, and most of these employees go there for a better career. Moreover, most universities, colleges, hospitals, offices and other amenities are located in the heart of large cities, and people move there to access those facilities. A recent statistic points out that more than 80 thousand students move to our capital city each year to get enrolled in different college and university courses.
To solve the ever-increasing population burden and pollution in metropolitan areas, the government has to move out many offices, colleges, factories and so on to remote areas. Without relocating those, the expectation of reducing pollution and crowd in big cities is far-fetched and impractical. For instance, at least 2.5 million factory workers live in our capital city who can not afford proper accommodation, sanitary bathrooms and clean drinking water. Diseases can spread faster there than anywhere else and could risk the whole city in the process. To move those people to suburban or rural areas, the government has to decentralise. Moreover, the development focus should not be only city-centric. It should rather be properly distributed. This will make sure people have jobs in rural areas and are not forced to move to a large city.
In conclusion, the phenomenal growth of cities poses different problems and increases pollution, and traffic congestion, and decreases living standards. Decentralisation and rural area-centric development can reverse the situation to a great extent.

In recent times, most major cities around the world are experiencing rapid growth due to an increase in population. The surge in population has resulted in a general decline in the quality of life in city areas as the environment becomes more congested and polluted. This essay will outline the reasons behind this growth and propose practical solutions to this problem.
One of the main reasons for the upsurge in population in city areas is migration. People are moving from rural areas to urban areas in search of better opportunities, such as employment and education. This migration is further compounded by natural population growth, which has also contributed to the overall increase in population in cities. As a result, the environment in city areas is becoming overcrowded and contaminated.
To solve this problem, city planners need to take a holistic approach to urban planning. Firstly, cities need to be developed in such a way that they are self-sustainable, with infrastructure and resources that can cater to the growing inhabitants. This includes the development of public transportation systems, such as trains and buses, to ease the burden on roads and reduce air pollution. Additionally, cities need to be designed in a way that allows for green spaces and recreational areas, such as parks and playgrounds, to counterbalance the concrete jungle effect.
Furthermore, cities need to adopt more environmentally friendly practices, such as the use of renewable energy sources, like solar power and wind power, to reduce their carbon footprint. Incentives should also be provided to encourage residents to use environmentally friendly modes of transportation, such as bicycles and electric cars.
In conclusion, the rapid growth of major cities around the world has led to an overall fall in the quality of life as the environment becomes polluted. This problem can be addressed by urban planning, including the development of self-sustainable cities with green spaces and the use of environmentally friendly practices. By implementing these solutions, we can ensure that city areas remain livable and sustainable for future generations.
One of the major reasons for the increase of population in main cities is that in most countries different opportunities and basic infrastructures are limited to big cities. So, in order to get these needs, people from the countryside move to the metropolitan areas; hence this leads to a growth in the number of people in these areas. One solution to this problem could be to spread these needs of people to different parts of the country like small cities and towns. As a result, the inflow rate of people to big cities will be minimized.
In addition, having a limited number of metropolitan areas in the country is also another reason for the growth of population in the big cities. In other words, due to the reason that most people want to live or work in the big cities, they will be left with no choice other than to move to these specific areas. One possible solution for this is to gradually grow small cities and towns to major cities. Therefore, people will have many options of cities to move to and this will lead to minimizing the number of people who flow to the specific cities.
In conclusion, the large number of people who move to major cities due to different reasons make the population of the big cities to rapidly increase. In my opinion, the government should do more to address these issues, and two effective solutions could be decentralisatio n and developing more towns and cities.

It is an inevitable fact that the population keeps increasing all over the world with every passing day. And as we have divided ourselves into two parts - one is urban and the other is rural, this division clearly states that either of them lacks something or other, for example, the urban environment lacks calmness and serenity while the rural environment lacks proper development, modern amenities. The analysis contained within the following paragraphs will explore the issues and solutions surrounding the soaring urban population.
As the saying goes, "Change is the only constant thing in this world", everyone in today's world wants to move forward either in terms of a luxurious lifestyle or in terms of technology. And metropolitan cities look promising to a person who wants to achieve their dreams. As the metro cities have the top class amenities, multinational companies, and metro trains for public transportation, these stands to be the major reason why rural people move towards the cities and gradually settle down there forever. Due to this exponential growth in population in the developing cities, not only the lifestyle has been a major hit but also the tranquillity has decreased tremendously.
As days pass by, we can not deny the increasing rate at which people from rural areas will continue to migrate towards the cities. At this point, it will be mindful for us to learn a few measures from the developed countries. For example, Singapore is a well-planned country, each nook and corner of the country is planned in such a way that no sudden problem can occur out of the blue even after years. Although if any major destruction happens they have backup plans in place. So, we can consider Singapore as a model and similarly outline our communities so that the urban population would not seem like an issue after ages.
To conclude, the best way to predict the future is by creating it. If the city is planned way ahead by keeping in mind all the possible future scenarios, we as people can tackle any problem if faced. Simultaneously, if the government contributes towards rural development as well, then most of the problems can be fixed before they appear seriously.

The population in urban areas are soaring exponentially, and cities are becoming overcrowded, degrading the quality of life. Many large cities are extending their boundaries to suburbs, and rural areas, making cities even bigger. The main reasons behind the growth of megacities and their population are the need for jobs, quality education, and the amenities present in these metropolitan areas. In this essay, I would like to throw some light on such causes and solutions to them.
First of all, let us discuss employment in cities. Due to the unavailability of better jobs in rural areas, people prefer to migrate to urban areas to earn a decent livelihood. This can only be controlled if some major industries or companies are moved towards the rural areas. Secondly, lack of quality education forces people to move towards the cities who care for their future or their children’s education. India could be a good example here. In Indian villages, one can get education only up to secondary or senior secondary level. For higher studies, they have to turn towards cities. The only solution is to set up higher educational institutions in rural areas.
Furthermore, many governmental head offices, big hospitals and many other amenities are available only in larger cities. Decentralizatio n is the best solution for this issue. If rural people get all amenities around them, they do not have to move towards the urban areas.
In conclusion, requirements of facilities, education, and employment must be addressed by the government to cater to this problem. Every problem has a solution if it is handled properly.
